Program Description

Event Details

Please join us for a Meet The Artist program on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from noon to 2pm, in the Anne Louise Davis room.

This exhibit showcases the art of Lydia Watson with a display of 32 works on paper: a collection of drawings in which pen and ink dots are used to create 2D visuals. The visual interpretations presented in “Embracing Stippling” are intended to encourage, challenge, elevate others to a different state of being and even look deeper at what is seen as ordinary images.

Stippling is a drawing technique in which small, distinct dots are used to create a desired image or effect. The term “stippling” comes from the Dutch word for “small dot.” This technique can be used with a variety of mediums, including pencils, ink, and even in digital art.

Lydia Watson, a visual artist and founder of WATSART LLC established in May 2022, is a native of Plainfield, New Jersey. Her work reflects a unique perspective, using mixed mediums to tell a different kind of story through her art presentations and compositions. Lydia aims to inspire the viewers' imagination through her art.

The exhibition will run from Monday, October 21, 2024, through Saturday, January 11, 2025.

This exhibition is free and open to the public during regular library hours when the room is not in use. Please call ahead if you are traveling from out of town to ensure the room is open.

This program is partly made possible by a 2024 HEART Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners.
