Program Description

Event Details

Through photography and words, take a step back and look at a moment in United States history when immense civil unrest takes place during the worst global pandemic in recent time. This exhibition brings further awareness to the continued inequalities and treatment of Black people in the U.S. by showing those who have put their lives at risk during this unprecedented time. The images presented, from May & June 2020, document the George Floyd March in Newark, the Black Lives Matter March in Scotch Plains, the Edison March Against Injustice, and the Plainfield Anti-Violence Protest. The text was written and provided by photojournalist, Kalani Jimenez-Mackson.

This arts education program is supported, in part, by a 2022 History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands (HEART) Grant from the Union County Board of Commissioners.
