In this month's Library Genealogy Club program, we present, "Sons & Daughters of the United States Middle Passage." The SDUSMP is a lineage society for descendants of individuals enslaved in English colonial America and the United States of America from 1619-1865. It is dedicated to preserving the memory of freed and enslaved ancestors. This program will explain what is the SDUSMP, how to apply for membership in it, how to find enslaved ancestors, and why it is important to remember them.
Speaker, Evelyn A. McDowell, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA is the President of the Board of Directors and founder of SDUSMP. She is also an Associate Professor of Accounting at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. She is the Program Director and co-founder of the Aspiring Accounting Professionals Program, an organization devoted to increasing the number of minority accounting professionals through mentoring, community involvement, experiential learning, and academic and peer support.
