Event Details
At this time of year, while some people are dyeing eggs, the topic of natural dyes comes up. While dyeing whole pieces of fabric or skeins of yarn with chemicals may be intimidating, experimenting with smaller items, such as wood beads, small pieces of yarn, or eggs can be a great way to play with natural dye methods.
We'll be discussing and demonstrating how to use 3 different food-safe natural dyestuffs: onion skins, turmeric, and cochineal, dyeing wood beads, cotton yarn, and, if you wish, eggs.
All supplies except eggs will provided in a kit that can be picked up at the Library, on April 12th or 13th.
This craft is open to both teen and adult attendees.
